sc2.jpgDunollie is a traditional, detached character cottage dating from 1900 which has been extensively refurbished yet still retains its many original features. It occupies a magnificent, tranquil location on the edge of the Trossachs and is situated on the scenic road from Callander to Balquhidder with panoramic views over Balquhidder Glen to Loch Voil, the River Balvaig and the Hills of Strathyre.

Sleeps 2-4   No Smoking   Pets by arrangement

Situated to the rear of the cottage and accessed by a separate external entrance, the self contained guest wing has its own secluded, grassy courtyard with garden furniture.

Inside, the accommodation consists of a lounge, with open fire set in a Victorian fireplace and bed settee, leading to a kitchenette and feature staircase to the first floor. Upstairs, there is a very large double bedroom (convertible to a family room) with coombed ceiling and ensuite, champagne bathroom with bath and shower over. All rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished in keeping with the cottage's character and surroundings.

Letting: From Saturday to Saturday wherever possible apart from Christmas and New Year. Guests are asked to arrive after 3pm on the first day and leave by 12 noon on the last day.

Surrounding Area

Balquhidder itself lies in a area of exceptional beauty with lochs, natural woodland and spectacular mountain scenery. It is within easy reach of the Central belt of Scotland with Dunollie lying only 2 miles west of the A84 trunk road linking Stirling to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The village has many historical connections, being the burial place of Rob Roy McGregor and the area from which Robert the Bruce led his armies to the Battle of Bannockburn. In addition, the literary works of Tannahill, Sir Walter Scott and Dorothy Wordsworth have all orginiated from the Glen of Balquhidder. There is a wealth of sporting and recreational facilities with 9 golf courses all within easy reach including Comrie, Crieff and the championship course at Gleneagles. There are a number of deer forests, excellent salmon and sea-trout fishing, numerous hill-walking trails (including several Munros) and the well-known watersports centre of Loch Earn is only 3 miles distant.
