There are many different species of animals at Auchingarrich to discover, and as well as all of the animals you have to say hello to, there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy all day at Auchingarrich. From indoor play barns to mini golf you will never want to leave! Below are some of the things you can look forward to doing at Auchingarrich, come rain or shine!
Hatching and handling
Visit the Hatchery and handle the chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises. If you are lucky and you keep an eye on the glass topped incubator then you may just see a chick peck its way out of the shell to start its life. See the lambs being fed at Easter and look out for any new arrivals throughout the year around the park!
Across the day a number of feedings go on across the park where you can watch and sometimes help feed some of the animals! These differ day on day but please ask any member of staff for details or look out for the signs!
Indoor play barn
Auchingarrich has a recently built activity play barn suitable for ages 5 to 11. This is open all year round and is a great place for mums and dads to enjoy their coffee on the benches whilst the little ones have a ball! There is also table tennis, football table, shooting cannons, football sports area!
If after visiting all the animals and play areas you find you still have lots of energy left then why not take the track past the otters, red deer, ponds, fallow deer and peccary to the top of the hill to the viewpoint for some spectacular scenery over Comrie and the Southern Highlands. For those really in a mind for a good walk there is also the Torlum 8 mile walk through the Perthshire hills.
Well behaved dogs are welcomed in the centre on leads at all times. The only part of the centre that they are not allowed is inside the café and our lemurs can be stressed by dogs so we ask that you keep them back from them.
This is just a very small example of the many things to do and see at Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre located in Comrie and for full details visit the website at http://www.auchingarich.co.uk.
Comrie is only a short drive from any of our self-catering holiday cottages and a day at Auchingarrich would provide a great family day out while staying in our area of central Scotland. Why not consider a visit while staying in on of our cottages.
